Discotom 2

Struers Discotom 2 abrasive cutting machine is an important tool for the professional metallographer.  The first Discotom was introduced in 1965 and offers a robust design with enclosed cutting area and twin vices.  Progressive design improvements have produced a micro sectioning machine of  very good design for the cutting of smaller components ready for mounting and polishing  for optical microscope analysis.

A recent project carried out for a customer involved the supply of Leica microscope and a Discotom cutting machine.  The Leica DM4000M and S6D stereo microscope were both in very good condition and offered with microscope cameras. The Discotom needed extensive work to be carried out to meet the requirements for the customer and Spectrographic’s reputation for high quality used metallurgical equipment.

See the pictures, which shows the extent of the work undertaken to make the Discotom as good as new ready for delivery to our customer in Sweden.
