This metallurgical book really is the bible for all metallurgists, and gives a great insight into the field of materials surface preparation, according to Paul. It gives an in-depth insight into the preparation of metals, spray coatings, composites, minerals, PCB's and electronic circuits, thin film measurement, soft materials and ceramics.  The book also enlightens the reader into hardness testing and applied microscopy. Paul has been inspired by this book to write his own guidance notes for sample preparation, available from the website. The MetCut 330 abrasive metallurgical cutting machine offers a good capacity for sectioning a wide range of samples for material testing. This machine has the ability to cut samples from a wide range of materials using abrasive cutting wheels and diamond /  Cubic Boron Nitride  wheels available from Spectrographic.   Sectioning of samples up to 80mm diameter with chopping technique and up to 200mm length using the lateral moving bed can be achieved.   The machine is available with manual or automatic cutting functions.    The video below shows how to use the machine. . Gail has now returned to Spectrographic after attending Crufts 2016 with her Daughter Willow and their dogs. Willow has enjoyed a very successful time by winning the 6-11 Pastoral/Working Junior Handling Final on Saturday, with her Shetland Sheepdog Tooralie's Firefly owned by Mrs Sue Walker, under Judge Liz Millward. On the Friday of Crufts Willow and Miss Fly also competed in the under 12 Young Kennel Club Grooming Competition and gained a highly respectable 2nd. Willow and Fly then had to compete in the main final on Sunday against all the other finalists from each day, they both put in an epic performance, according to Gail.  Well done to the main winners. Spectrographic didn't expect to see Gail on the Monday, and they were right.  Instead she limped home on the Monday after 3 days of the growling NEC flooring. The Spectrographic engineers have been working hard to refurbish the Buehler Metaserv 3000. This twin 200mm polisher/grinder will be available very soon.  The machine is capable of Polishing/Grinding 4 samples at anyone time.
