Name of Polishing Cloth
Description
CIAR
Soft, micro-porous cloth.  Chemical resistant low napped polymer pad. Excellent flatness and long durability (Pk 5)


TARA
A soft flocked cloth, semi finishing and finishing of all materials.  Diamond  3 or 1 mic (Pk 5)
FLOCK
Soft, dense and medium napped synthetic cloth on a plastic foil.  Provide excellent flatness and long durability 1 or 3 mic (Pk 5)
MAIA
Very soft flocked cloth, semi finishing and finishing of all materials.  Diamond 3, 1 or 1/4 mic (Pk 5)
NAPP
Very soft cloth with dense and short napped synthetic flock on a special synthetic layer. Provides excellent flatness and long durability. 1 - 6 mic diamond (Pk 5)
ORLI
A medium hard woven wool cloth. Special synthetic barrier backing provides excellent flatness and long durability for 3 - 6 mic diamond (Pk 5)
VEGA
Woven silk cloth with internal barrier film and adhesive.  All materials 15, 9, 6 or 3 mic diamond (Pk 5)
IZAR
A hard impregnated non-woven cloth with a special synthetic barrier backing provides excellent flatness and high material removal with short polishing times, long durability 3 - 15 mic diamond (Pk 5)
DURA
A nap-less hard-woven durable synthetic cloth. Extremely aggressive. For intermediate polishing of hard ferrous metals, ceramics, carbides and thermal spray coatings (Pk 5)
A non-woven cloth for medium, hard and very hard materials.  Diamond 15, 9, 6 and 3 mic (Pk 5)
STEN A medium hard satin woven acetate cloth.Special synthetic barrier backing provides excellent flatness and long durability 1 - 9 mic (Pk 5)
POLI Hard woven polyester cloth with special synthetic barrier offers excellent flatness and long durability. 1 - 9 mic diamond (Pk 5)
Nylon Medium to hard woven cloth for polishing hard-medium materials during semi finishing and finishing of materials 1 - 15 mic (Pk 5)

Discotom 2

Struers Discotom 2 abrasive cutting machine is an important tool for the professional metallographer.  The first Discotom was introduced in 1965 and offers a robust design with enclosed cutting area and twin vices.  Progressive design improvements have produced a micro sectioning machine of  very good design for the cutting of smaller components ready for mounting and polishing  for optical microscope analysis. A recent project carried out for a customer involved the supply of Leica microscope and a Discotom cutting machine.  The Leica DM4000M and S6D stereo microscope were both in very good condition and offered with microscope cameras. The Discotom needed extensive work to be carried out to meet the requirements for the customer and Spectrographic’s reputation for high quality used metallurgical equipment.
