Resolving power of objective lens -NA

Image
Huvitz objective range This particular feature is very important when considering which microscope objective to use in the application of viewing samples using a microscope. A high NA value allows the microscope user to focus on the finer details that would not be possible with an inferior optical system (low NA). Using a low NA system - fine details would not be resolved under a microscope. But with the resolving power of high NA objectives it separates the features and allows the user to view more detail of the structure. This is an important consideration when viewing the laminar structure of cementite. An objective with a high numerical aperture (NA) with good resolution to offer improved clarity to reveal the nature of the structure. Whereas an objective with a lower NA will not allow the user to view the detail of the micro structure under the microscope. The 100x objective has a NA of 0.9 and a working distance of 1mm and can resolve feature of 0.37 micron Contact us;...

Hardness Tester Installation at Inlex locking

Image
Spectrographic recently supplied a hardness tester to Inlex Locking, this particular company specialize in fasteners. The hardness tester will be used in the quality control laboratory and will be used for the quality inspection of fasteners . When deciding on a new system,  the major customer requirement was to improve the facilities of hardness tester measurement and we propoeed the HM Indent system which offers computer based vickers and knoop measurements.  The introduction of software for micro vickers testing improves the precision of D1 and D2 measurement.  we like the ease of use and reporting function offering output and saving of test results If you would like to find out more about the system that was installed please contact us using the details below. The all new Huvitz microscope range

Image
Our all new Huvitz Microscopes have just arrived. We are very impressed by this new range, and have discovered some very interesting features. One of the features is an ECO mode, which when activated puts the microscope into a power saving mode and has a sensor which re-activates the microscope when the user is near by. Do you know of any other microscope system that allows this feature? Please let us know in the comments section below. When Sheffield Hallam University were trained on their new installation of a hardness tester was it because they were testing very hard materials that they were wearing hard hats? The Mitutoyo HM200 series hardness tester here,  is used for measuring hardness of PVD coating with hardness of over 3000 Hv.  The integration of computer based measurement software improves the consistency of the indent, very important when the indentation is in the region of 12 micron. Yes, the material is very hard but the hats were due to extensive building and refurbishment work, set for completion in November.  At this point the microhardness tester will be relocated and Spectrographic will recalibrate it and ensure all is working correctly. We would like to thanks our customer for their business. Contact us on: Telephone - 01274 966173 Email - sales@metallography.co.uk Website - www.metallography.co.uk
