Directors Venture to Control 2016 Stuttgart

Image
The Spectrographic directors Paul and Nicci Chippendale have jetted off to Stuttgart to the annual quality assurance trade fair. They are all geared up to see current and prospective suppliers at this years event. First stop was to obviously find Manfred Tieza of NewSonic GMBH, to see the innovative Sonodur Portable Hardness Tester. As you can see Nicci is making  the most of getting sales information for this portable metallurgical product. Paul on the other hand has turned into his very own "Superhero" Mr Chip and enjoyed meeting up with the Hulk. At the office the Spectrographic Team have been looking forward to the news of the day from this industry specific exhibition of material preparation and analysis equipment. If you the Spectrographic Team for anything please wake them up and contact them: Email:  sales@spectrographic.co.uk Tel: 01274 966173 Website:  www.spectrographic.co.uk http://www.spectrographic.co.uk/metallurgical-equipme...

Standby Service Availability

Image
There are many definitions of Stand by, this is the one we like "d enoting an economic or financial measure prepared for implementation in specified circumstances." Why? I hear you ask. Service can be expensive especially when travelling costs are involved.  At Spectrographic we would like to give our service customers a helping hand. This is the plan if you are not in a hurry and can wait until we have other service calls in the area we can significantly cut the costs of the service by 40% or more. The Spectrographic service is available on metallurgical cutters, polishers and mounting press. Each service will involve a deep clean, change of specific PPM parts and electrical testing, a full report of any issues relating to the machine.  Now for the small print if non planned preventative maintenance parts are required we will send of formal quotation to repair the machine in question. Please contact the Spectrographic Service Team on: Email:...

Microstructure Preparation Routes for Metallurgical Analysis

Image
Spectrographic is a leading metallurgical supplier of preparation equipment and consumables, based in Bradford in the United Kingdom. The main industrial sectors that we deal in is automotive, aerospace, rail, energy, test house, metal preparation laboratories and Universities. Our aim is to be able to assist our client base with knowledge on how to prepare metallography samples all the way through to microscopy. This has been completed by a new section on our website which is called preparation routes , thus aiding the metallurgist in which products can be used for each of the metallic steels and alloys. If there is a preparation route not on the website, please contact the Spectrographic Team and they will advise you of the correct materials preparation route for your application. Hardness Tester Test Block Calibration

At Spectrographic as a metallurgical suppliers we offer re-calibration of Hardness Tester test blocks.  There are different types of hardness test reference blocks which relate to the testing for hardness.  These are Rockwell, Vickers, Micro Vickers, Knoop, Brinell and Leeb Test Blocks. The BS EN ISO 6507-3:2005 relates to metallic materials, Vickers hardness test and calibration of reference test blocks.  The extracted information of this standard Calibration of reference blocks appears in section 9 - Validity, it states: " The reference block is only valid for the scale for which it was calibrated. The calibration validity should be limited to a duration of 5 years.  Attention is drawn to the fact that, for Al- and Cu-alloys, the calibration validity could be reduced to 2-3 years". The question here is are all the test blocks valid that are currently been used for hardness testing within your metallurgy department.  This should become apparent...

Service Engineers Repair a PC 60 Cutter

Image
Spectrographic Service Department have been busy repairing a PC60 Metallurgical Cutter, and we are really pleased to receive great feedback about our service engineers. This is what a representative of Hardide Coatings had to say, "My thanks to you all – especially to Sam the Service Engineer who made the necessary repairs to bring it to functionality. The machine seems to be working as required – I did trials on positioning, adjusting rpm & feed rate and everything behaved appropriately and was controllable" If you are after a Service on a Metallurgy Cut off machine, please get in touch with the Spectrographic Team Email:  sales@spectrographic.co.uk Tel: 01274 966173 Website:  www.spectrographic.co.uk
