Spectrographic Appoint New Service Engineer.

Service and maintenance of your laboratory equipment is paramount to a well run laboratory. We like to think that we understand our customer needs and when you are looking for new equipment you also look for a company that can support that equipment with experienced service engineers. When equipment fails you may need backup, at Spectrographic we would like to work with you to offer customer tailored service contracts and service repairs to meet your needs.

Spectrographic are pleased to announce the appointment of Philip to our service team. With over 30 years experience in the engineering industry, 22 years in the R A F, then 10 years in civil aviation, as a service engineer. Philip has practical experience of working on and maintaining a wide range of electrical/electronic and mechanical systems.

Philip has already worked on the following equipment:
  • Struers Discotom 2 – Abrasive cutter.
  • Struers Accutom – Precsion cutter.
  • Buehler Metaserv 2000 – Metallurgical grinder and polisher.
  • Buehler Simpliment 2000 – Metallurgical mounting press.
  • Mitutoyo Durotwin – Rockwell hardness tester.

Discotom 2

Struers Discotom 2 abrasive cutting machine is an important tool for the professional metallographer.  The first Discotom was introduced in 1965 and offers a robust design with enclosed cutting area and twin vices.  Progressive design improvements have produced a micro sectioning machine of  very good design for the cutting of smaller components ready for mounting and polishing  for optical microscope analysis. A recent project carried out for a customer involved the supply of Leica microscope and a Discotom cutting machine.  The Leica DM4000M and S6D stereo microscope were both in very good condition and offered with microscope cameras. The Discotom needed extensive work to be carried out to meet the requirements for the customer and Spectrographic’s reputation for high quality used metallurgical equipment. Buehler Metaserv 3000

The Spectrographic engineers have been working hard to refurbish the Buehler Metaserv 3000. This twin 200mm polisher/grinder will be available very soon.  The machine is capable of Polishing/Grinding 4 samples at anyone time.
